Do you know that about 9,500 people a year are murdered with a gun in this Country?
Do you know that about 98,000 people a year die from preventable medical errors? That makes medical mistakes the sixth biggest killer in America. Doctors and/or hospitals kill 10 times more people a year than guns. Maybe we should ban health care.

I’m not trying to make light of gun deaths. But when a dickhead like bob costas gets on National TV and starts ranting about something he obviously has very little information on, it strikes a nerve with me. I don’t have a National spotlight, and probably shouldn’t have, but if I did, I would arm myself with facts, not opinions and bullshit.
Here’s a fact for you, bob costas enjoys the security provided by ARMED body guards.
Here are a few more facts for you;
Guns are used 2.5 million times a year in self-defense. Law-abiding citizens use guns to defend themselves against criminals as many as 2.5 million times every year—or about 6,850 times a day. This means that each year, firearms are used more than 80 times more often to protect the lives of honest citizens than to take lives.
Concealed carry laws have reduced murder and crime rates in the states that have enacted them. According to a comprehensive study which reviewed crime statistics in every county in the United States from 1977 to 1992, states which passed concealed carry laws reduced their rate of murder by 8.5%, rape by 5%, aggravated assault by 7% and robbery by 3%.
CDC admits there is no evidence that gun control reduces crime. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has long been criticized for propagating questionable studies which gun control organizations have used in defense of their cause. But after analyzing 51 studies in 2003, the CDC concluded that the “evidence was insufficient to determine the effectiveness of any of these [firearms] laws.”
As many as 200,000 women use a gun every year to defend themselves against sexual abuse.
Kennesaw, GA. In 1982, this suburb of Atlanta passed a law requiring heads of households to keep at least one firearm in the house. The residential burglary rate subsequently dropped 89% in Kennesaw, compared to the modest 10.4% drop in Georgia as a whole.
3/5 of felons polled agreed that “a criminal is not going to mess around with a victim he knows is armed with a gun.”
74% of felons polled agreed that “one reason burglars avoid houses when people are at home is that they fear being shot during the crime.”
57% of felons polled agreed that “criminals are more worried about meeting an armed victim than they are about running into the police.”
Washington, D.C. has, perhaps, the most restrictive gun control laws in the country, and yet it is frequently the Murder Capital of the nation. In the 25 years following the DC gun ban, its murder rate INCREASED 51 percent, even while the national rate DECREASED 36 percent.
Armed citizens kill more crooks than do the police. Citizens shoot and kill at least twice as many criminals as police do every year (1,527 to 606). And readers of Newsweek learned that “only 2 percent of civilian shootings involved an innocent person mistakenly identified as a criminal. The ‘error rate’ for the police, however, was 11 percent, more than five times as high.”
